- Creating art is something I have been doing all
my life. As a child and adolescent I was always drawing, doodling, or
painting. And although it was something I loved to do, I never wanted to
have a career in art. To have someone tell me ”OK, you have to draw
this now” would never work for me.
-
- Although I’m sure my parents would have loved to
see me become a successful artist, they never pushed me in that
direction and I am grateful for that. They always allowed me to go my
own way and with that, I think my artistic expression is genuinely my
own. I have grown as a person
and an artist at my own pace to my own
liking.
-
- For much of my developmental years my medium of
choice was ink and paper working mainly in black and white abstract
expressions. Professional doodles, if you will. I incorporated objects
such as animals, plants, and other natural things into my drawings. I’d
start with a random wavy, looping shape allowing the pen to wander
around the paper. Then I would step back and view the shape with my
artistic eye and go with whatever it showed me, pulling objects from the
random shape. Eventually I started adding color to my pieces using
colored pencils and from there my work just exploded. I gained a new
excitement for my art and ran with it.
-
- Recently I have realized a great love for
painting with acrylics and that is the bulk of my latest works. I had
numerous ideas for larger pieces that I knew would be very difficult to
do with only an ink pen and colored pencils. So I invested in some
brushes, paint, a few canvas boards and went to town. To get the feel of
what I wanted to do, I started with a lot of experimentation with
colors. How they blend and bleed; how they compliment and contradict one
another. Now that my skills are improving, my talent is really beginning
to shine.

My latest works, be they paintings or drawings,
are a reflection of my deepest passions, influenced by all things in
nature and unknown frontiers. I am fascinated by the possibility of
worlds beyond our own and how we are connected to those other
existences.
-
- The titles of my works come from my own views on
what the pieces suggest to me. I would like each viewer to interpret my
art in any way that suits them. I believe that art is nothing without
individual interpretation.
-
- I love the artwork that I am creating. It makes
me feel fantastic. I hope you can share even a little piece of that when
viewing this body of work.
